How long will the study last?

Through the end of your intern year.

What happens if I change my mind about being in the study?

You may withdraw your consent and discontinue participation at any time by contacting the study team.

How will the researchers protect my privacy?

Your survey data and all other information collected through your phone, as well as your DNA sample (if applicable), will be coded with a unique non-decodable identifier so that all information you provide will remain confidential.

What information will be shared with Apple/Google?

None! All of the data is uploaded directly to the University of Michigan from your phone and stored in a secure HIPAA compliant environment. Apple or Google do NOT have access to any of the information you provide through the Intern Health app.

What phone version/operating system do I need?

The MyDataHelps App requires that you have an iPhone running iOS 12 or higher or Android version 7.0 or higher.

Will this app kill my battery?

No. You can check what percentage of your battery the app is using by accessing "Settings" --> "Battery".

Usage should be minimal to nothing.

Why is my data from the last few days not displaying on the app dashboard?

Fitbit: Try opening the Fitbit app on your phone and manually syncing.

Apple Watch: Try opening Apple Health and then refreshing the MyDataHelps app.

Can I switch from Fitbit to Apple Watch?

1) Go to Account > disconnect your Fitbit

2) You may be prompted to give access to your Apple Health data, select "Allow All"

3) Your data should automatically load to the dashboard

You can check the app Dashboard to verify that your sleep and step data are successfully displaying.

Will I be able to participate if I have an Apple Watch?

Yes! Interns with an Apple Watch may now participate in our study.

When is the best time to charge my Apple Watch?

We recommend charging your Apple Watch before sleep or during your wake-up routine to ensure you have enough battery life to wear it when you sleep. Even 20 minutes twice a day should be enough to maintain a full charge!

What if I get a new phone?

No problem! You can simply log in using your user account credentials and may be promoted to allow access to your health data again. Feel free to check the Dashboard to ensure data is being transmitted accurately.

When are participants compensated for quarterly surveys?

Quarterly gift cards are distributed after the survey closes at the end of the month.

What if I want to participate but don't have an iPhone?

No problem, our app is compatible with iPhone and Android!

Where do I go for technical support?
